Gravity Ventilators: Model DC-AGV Severe Duty vs. Model AGV Light Duty

Posted on April 8, 2026 by Aire Technologies

What is a Gravity Ventilator?

A gravity ventilator encourages natural airflow throughout the building, from floor to up toward the ceiling.  Using natural forces, these ventilators introduce cool outside air into the occupancy level of a building while exhausting heated and contaminated air.  They require no power, motors, or fans to function, although mechanically powered ventilators with fans do exist.

Aire Technologies currently offers two types of aluminum gravity ventilators: the Model DC-AGV and Model AGV.  Learn more about Aire Technologies’ AGVs below.

Model DC-AGV Severe Duty AGV

The Model-DC AGV severe-duty aluminum gravity ventilator is designed, engineered, and tested to provide air intake or relief while protecting severe hurricane environments. The DC-AGV meets the following test protocols:

  • TAS 201-94 (Missile Impact Test)
  • TAS 202-94 (Uniform Static Air Pressure Test)
  • TAS 203-94 (Cyclic Wind Pressure Loading Test)

With the Model DC-AGV, you can have peace of mind knowing that this product is Miami-Dade County-certified and can withstand even the toughest of hurricane environments.  Engineered with a strong aluminum angle interior subframe, the Model DC-AGV is reinforced and built to last.  The Model DC-AGV’s wind load performance is +/- 120 psf at 96” W x 144” L and +/- 180 psf at 48” W x 48” L. Air performance data sheets are available upon request.

Available in a wide variety of sizes, the maximum shell size is 96” W x 144” L, and the minimum shell size is 24” W x 24” L.

Model AGV Light Duty AGV

The Model AGV is an aluminum gravity ventilator designed and engineered to provide air intake or relief in noncoastal regions.

The all-new light-duty AGV is lighter and leaner, designed for buildings that don’t need that extra protection that a hurricane environment would require.  By shedding the interior subframe required for hurricane regions, this complementary AGV offers similar air performance and options at a much lower cost.

Available in a wide variety of sizes, the maximum shell size is 96”W x 114”L, and the minimum shell size is 18”W x 18”L.

Can I Customize My Order of AGVs?

Standard construction for both the Model DC-AGV and Model AGV consists of 0.081” thick aluminum shell, a 2” x 3” x 0.188” curb skirt, an expanded aluminum bird screen, and a standard mill finish.

Optional features for custom orders include hinged assembly, filter racks, an insect screen, anti-condensate coating, and powder coating.  Consult an Aire Technologies representative in your area or our Aire Tech customer service team for more information.

Matt Parker World Marathon Challenge Fundraiser for the Chase Academy Update

Posted on February 9, 2026 by Aire Technologies

As mentioned in our previous post, Aire Technologies was a proud sponsor of the Matt Parker World Marathon Challenge Fundraiser for the Chase Academy. From January 31-February 6, 2026, Matt ran the World Marathon Challenge (7 Marathons in 7 Continents in 7 Days) to raise funds for The Chase Academy—a school in South Daytona, Florida, dedicated to students with ASD. The academy has outgrown its building and needs help to open its doors to more students.

Totaling 183.4 miles across all seven continents in just one week, every mile Matt ran moved the students of the Chase Academy toward the bigger and better facility they need.

Most people will never run a single marathon in their lives, let alone run marathons that circle the globe, and only a small fraction ever get the chance to travel to every continent. That’s part of what makes Matt’s journey so extraordinary. Along the way, he faced dramatic weather swings, from the brutal cold of Antarctica to the heat and humidity of more temperate regions, adding yet another layer of difficulty to an already superhuman feat. If the weather wasn’t a fierce enough opponent, runners also faced little recovery time between races, and even a stomach virus that began to spread early into the week.

Aire Technologies was proud to have sponsored Matt on this journey to raise funds for an incredible cause.

Matt’s Race Results:

  1. January 31 (Ultima Base, Antarctica): 11th in men’s, 15th overall (5:51:28)

  2. February 1 (Cape Town, Africa): 9th in men’s, 10th overall (3:44:54)

  3. February 2 (Perth, Australia): 16th in men’s, 21st overall (4:58:44)

  4. February 3 (Dubai, UAE, Asia): 16th in men’s, 22nd overall (4:52:27)

  5. February 4 (Madrid, Spain, Europe): 19th in men’s, 25th overall (4:53:28)

  6. February 5 (Fortaleza, Brazil, South America): 9th in men’s, 13th overall (4:37:20)

  7. February 6 (Miami, Florida, North America): 16th in men’s, 20th overall (4:48:07)

If you haven’t made a donation and would like to, there’s still time to help the Chase Academy reach its goal. You can donate now at bit.ly/3NHaANY.

Support the Matt Parker World Marathon Challenge Fundraiser for the Chase Academy

Posted on January 27, 2026 by Aire Technologies

Aire Technologies is proud to sponsor the Matt Parker World Marathon Challenge Fundraiser for the Chase Academy! From January 31 through February 6, 2026, Matt Parker is taking on the World Marathon Challenge. He will run seven marathons on seven continents in seven days to raise money for the Chase Academy.

The Chase Academy is a school in South Daytona, Florida, for children with ASD (autism spectrum disorder). The academy was formed in 2006 by concerned parents, educational professionals, and volunteers who have all lent their expertise to develop an educational program designed specifically to meet the individual needs of students with high-functioning ASD within a welcoming, secure environment, sensitive to the aspects of ASD that cause students to be uncomfortable at a traditional school. Through their great success, they have outgrown their current building and had to temporarily stop accepting students. Our sponsorship and Matt’s dedication will assist them in attaining their new school building.

Matt is the owner of Parker Engineering & Mechanical, Inc., an HVAC Mechanical Contractor who installs high-quality HVAC systems for multi-family and large residential construction projects, such as apartment complexes, condominiums, retirement, student housing, and hotels. Parker Engineering has been a long-term partner with Aire Technologies for their life safety devices.

Each race in the challenge covers 26.2 miles (standard marathon length), totaling 183.4 miles! The longest flights are over 15 hours between marathons. In most cases, the participants will be running within an hour of landing, on little to no sleep. For some races, runners will have fewer than 14 hours to recover before running the next marathon on the next continent.

The South American race in Brazil on February 5 will be Aire Technologies sponsored day, and Matt will be wearing an Aire Technologies shirt while shouting out Aire Tech on social media.

Challenge Schedule:

  1. January 31 (Antarctica): Marathon in Ultima Base
  2. February 1 (Africa): Marathon in Cape Town, South Africa
  3. February 2 (Australia): Marathon in Perth
  4. February 3 (Asia): Marathon in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  5. February 4 (Europe): Marathon in Madrid, Spain
  6. February 5 (South America): Marathon in Fortaleza, Brazil
  7. February 6 (North America): Marathon in Miami, Florida

All donations are generously being matched by Matt and another one of his companies, ICED Cap. So far, he has raised more than $40,000 towards the Chase Academy’s new facility.

  • Matt Parker will match individual donations by 50%
  • ICED Cap will match the other 50%
  • Matching will be up to a combined total of $25,000
  • All donations will 100% go to The Chase Academy

Join us in supporting Matt and the Chase Academy by following his journey, consider making a donation, and be sure to watch for Aire Tech shirt day! Click here to donate and make a difference.

Celebrating 20 Years of Service, Support, and Quality

Posted on August 5, 2024 by Aire Technologies

Aire Technologies is a purpose-built manufacturing company born out of an idea in 2002.  Life safety devices utilized in commercial, industrial, and multi-family ductwork for HVAC is a specialty segment of the industry that Aire Technologies serves. It started with meager beginnings, only being able to build fire dampers and ceiling radiation dampers. Motorized dampers, duct board, extruded aluminum products such as louvers, gravity vents, and even sheet metal boots had not even been considered at that time.

Our purpose or mission: “To Provide Solutions to the HVAC Industry” is at our core.  In 2004, we built our first dampers with only eleven people in a small section of our manufacturing facility and three in sales and support in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. We now produce 1.1 million products annually with 92 manufacturing personnel, nine team members in Sales, Engineering, and Technical Sales, and support in two facilities, bringing our total team to 101!

We now hold three unique UL files, two unique wood truss assembly ratings, eight AMCA listings, three Miami-Dade Notices of Approvals (or NOAs) for louvers and gravity vents, one patent, and one trademark.

Aire Tech goes to market with nine Manufacturers’ Representatives (Rep Agencies) covering the United States in core markets. We also have one Bid and Specification agency and two more in contract negotiation. These Bid and Specification reps, or ‘stocking reps,’ will be the future of Aire Technologies’ growth by adding the next level of representation and specification influence.

Our team and core values are essential to our success. A belief in providing critical life safety devices manufactured with the highest quality possible and delivered quickly has been our trademark. We are widely recognized even as a relative newcomer. We are a proud success story of DMI Companies in keeping with over fifty years of dedication, integrity, and manufacturing prowess.

This year, on August 4, 2024, Aire Technologies will be twenty years old. This is a platinum anniversary of having delivered twenty years of service, support, and quality. As we celebrate this milestone, we are filled with anticipation for the future. We are looking forward to a future of new products, services, and continued industry growth and recognition, and we are excited to share this journey with you.
